Its a combination of solid hardwoods and engineered wood panels with real wood veneers. Engineered wood panels are very commonly used in furniture, and they provide a very stable core for use with decorative wood veneers. Theres nothing wrong with good quality engineered wood panels when properly utilized in construction, which is certainly the case with this piece.
I consider the color to be medium-dark and reddish-brown. I love that the hinges will hold the bench tops in the open position. There is plenty of storage for hats, gloves and scarves. The bottom of the storage area is not super heavy duty, so dont plan on hiding your gold in there, but there are ventilation holes so your hats wont get too musty.
Love this Hall tree. It’s a good height, good stain color, love the shelves to decorate. It hold kids backpacks, jackets, and coats. There’s plenty of storage space for the heavy winter gloves and scarves. It’s awesome!!
The hall tree shipped in the appropriate time frame, and arrived in good condition this past Friday. We put it together on Sunday, and discovered issues with the quality control department. Holes where cams were to be inserted were not drilled deep enough, and had to be manually scraped out prior to assembly; some holes were not drilled all the way through for the screws; when we put the upper half of the back together with the side pieces, the wood split; most if not all of the screw holes needed pre-drilling before assembly; there were a couple of places on the bench that were scraped when we took them out of the box; there were no covers for the holes at the back of the bench. If you buy this item, be prepared to spend most of an afternoon with someone helping you in order to put it together. We will be contacting for replacement part(s), and will update with our experiences dealing with the manufacturer.
I love this hall tree. I had been wanting this one for about a year. It was out of stock. I put it together myself, my husband didnt help, I wanted to do it myself and I did. He did help pick up the back and set it on the bench.
