I almost wore out the Allen key provided. If you have your own, use it. Make sure you have the correct parts and dont tighten all screws until all areas are done.
This is a very sturdy bed. I am happy with this purchase and the customer service team. We have had the bed a couple months and the only flaws I have noticed are one screw holding together the three boards on the second bunk came lose very quickly from people using that to stand up or from our boys climbing but it does not affect the sturdiness only looks. Really good looking bed, I would prefer the bottom bunk be a little lower to the ground for a couple reasons: it is a little high for young kids, lots of storage underneath which limits the space between the bottom and top bunk. I also wish the ladder could go on either side of the bunkit limits the set up in the room. My husband and I put the bed together, easily.
These bunks are very nice and solid but the ladder is not great, the rungs/steps are very hard on feet and would be better with a flat side to step on also the 1st one from the lower bed is difficult to reach ( too high from the floor ). We solved the problem by buying a different ladder with larger steps. The instructions to put the together are clear and easy to follow but it takes a good 4 hours to put everything together if you apply all the plugs and attaches for the bed mattress spring. Over all I would recommend these beds for their quality and price
