I was a little discouraged by the reviews but I figured hey what the heck, 30 bucks isnt much too lose. This desk is just great. I needed something simple to do lightweight projects on and I was very surprised after assembling it how sturdy it Is. Its particleboard so its VERY important to not over tighten the screws, take your time, follow the directions and use some common sense. Its extremely important to assemble this right the first time. DONT ASSEMBLE WITH POWER TOOLS!! Two small things that arent the end of the world but its a 30 desk on so its to be expected 1) doesnt include washers, I decided to assemble it as is, and it works fine but washers wouldnt hurt. 2) directions could be a little clearer, as there are no actual words In the documentation, thats where the common sense comes in(the instructions are three, simple pages.)3) theres no cable holes in the back of the desk. You can cut them yourself and buy cheap plastic hole cover at Home Depot for about 5 bucks.
I saw complaints on no pre drilled holes, I did not have that issue. Assembled in about 45 minutes. No problems. Works great if you take care building it.
The bad: This desk was hard to put together, the instructions are printed TINY. I mean you will need a magnifying glass. Definitely read the instructions first. The pieces are essentially beefed up cardboard and the entire thing is held to together with Philips screws. I used a drill driver, but was sure to set the clutch to its lowest setting, because you could destroy these panels without even trying. One of the screws had a piece of stray metal jammed inside the slot, making it unusable. See pic. We had to do surgery on the screw to make it able to be driven. We had to be very careful throughout assembling.
The good: For the price, it was about what I expected. When fully assembled, it does feel tighter. It fits in the narrow space I had to work with and we like how it looks. I got this for my son to game on, and I only expect it to last a few years at most. Next time I will spend an extra 20 or 40 bucks and get him something a bit sturdier.
Its just like the size advertised and fits perfectly in our bedroom. It is a laptop desk so the weight limit per shelf is low compared to other desks and furniture but it does the job well. The instructions were for the most part okay to follow. The pictures were in black and white (mainly black) with tiny white letters (letting you know which piece is which) that were barely visible so we had to go by what the piece in the picture looked like. For the pieces that were multiples of the same shape and size, only one would have a letter sticker on it so you would have to find it then gather the others that looked the same to continue with that specific step in the instructions. All the pieces come with small indentations signaling where the screws go in but no actual holes with screw grooves in them so a drill is needed or you can get by with a screwdriver and some hard labor. Because of this, two people working on it would be best when screwing the pieces together.
Perfect for my first gaming setup, assembly was fine but in one area there was no grip for the screw so we had to re-screw in a different area to make it work but I didnt really expect any less for a $35 desk.

Decent inexpensive desk for narrow space
