This is a fantastic bed for a New Yorker in a small apartment. My closet is literally one foot wide so having the extra storage for out of season clothing, extra bedding and luggage really saves my life. You could put those things under a normal bed in a normal bedroom, but this completely prevents having to lug out under bed bins and also not having tons of space on either side to do so.
The depth is about a foot. I do have one very large suitcase that wont fit underneath, but all my carry on luggage fits below. I have four large rolling underbed storage boxes inside, two carry on sized suitcases (filled with other travel paraphernalia and duffes, tote bags etc, my laptop bag, extra towels, 3 sheets sets with pillowcases and random small items that I just dont need to have out but cant part with.
Im 56 and have no issues lifting the bed up to access the storage or putting it back down, although I do have to reach and give a hard push down. It might be difficult for someone very short or without a lot of strength. There is a pull strap at the foot of the frame to assist with this if you cant reach the top but I feel like its a lot harder to pull down that way.
Assembly was not super easy. We made a few missteps and had to retrace our steps to get it right. Im probably not going to enjoy moving this when the time comes either, but thats not in the near future and since I got the full size, I would imagine I might be able to move it intact.
There is a gridlike support base inside of the storage area / so the bed isnt open to the floor. You would have to be careful to put smaller heavier objects onto the support base and not in the space in between, though there is a thin fabric covered liner that goes on top of the base it just didnt feel incredibly strong to me.
I am using this with a memory foam mattress and no box spring. I understand that this bed can be used with both, but personally, I think it would look weird and cover up a large portion of the headboard. There is a full sprung wood base thats part of the bed, so I think most mattresses could be used on this without a box spring. My memory foam seemed much more comfortable and seemed to have more give after taking it off of the old box spring I was using previously.
I paid around 275 for this bed on . Its the same bed you can find on Ostock although its listed as a different manufacturer on their website. When I was shopping around for a new bed, they had it listed for almost 100 more on their website.
One caveat / I was missing pieces important for Step 2 when I initially received the bed. However, had the parts sent out to me fairly quickly, but required a lot of documentation to get them. Still. Worth it. I love this bed.
This was a pain to put together towards the end. I did well maneuvering all the parts and keeping track of what goes where, but when the time came to attach the bed frame to the hydraulic pumps I died. Definitely could have used a helping hand it took me like an hour to get it to angle properly.
But once that was all taken care of, this is a really great bed. No creaking, once everything is attached the bed lifts easily, and the headboard is nice and soft.
I love the color, the fabric, its very elagnant. The only problem that I ran into is its was a queen frame and I had queen mattress that did not fit the whole frame.
Im sure the bed itself is probably fine but I wouldnt know since they sent it without 6 different pieces making it just a pile of parts sitting in my bedroom. They are smal but very important pieces. I cant connect the large headboard pieces without them. I tried contacting directly which they ask you to do in the instructions for replacement parts thinking ok this is frustrating but at least theyll send me the parts. 5 days go by before I get an email saying they havent and cant send the parts without about 6 different kinds of verification that I purchased the product. I send all the information I have with pictures of the product, pictures of the warranty, and pictures of the various shipping info thinking that should be enough. It was not. I apparently also need to send proof of sale and how much was spent. The problem is this was a gift. I did not pay for it. So I dont have that info. Its just six little pieces. I seriously an about to just head to Lowes or something to see if I can find them on my own but that is not cool. I shouldnt have to pay for parts that were already paid for. If actually sends me the parts I will update this review but for now I recommend avoiding this company and the frustration of dealing with their customer service.
It took my daughter and I about 4 hours to put this together but we love it. Looks and feels very high quality. We have a 14 inch mattress on it so you dont see much of the headboard once the pillows are on the bed. I was worried that the lift mechanism might not work or not work well but once it was all put together it is perfect. My daughter is extremely happy with her beautiful new bed and Im thrilled that we have that storage space but I do with it was a few inches deeper.
Love this bed. Storage underneath is a great place to store off/season clothes, decorations etc. Tons of room! Pneumatic lift is easy to operate. Very nice looking as well.
Put together myself after service no showed. I am a single female and did not require assistance. If you do not have assistance I suggest proping the frame on a chair while attaching as holding and attaching solo isnt possible. Works great, son loves it

I like the design of the bed but the mattress slips
I like the design of the bed but the mattress slips and the wood panels start breaking after about a year of use.
Great but needs more sturdy of a bottom
Great bed, a lot better than I thought it was going to be. The only bad thing I have to say is the storage area could use a more sturdy bottom for holding things
