This was easy for one person to assemble and is sturdy enough for an adult in the top bunk (which I have to do to make up the upper bunk). My 6 year grandson had no problem with the vertical ladder, though the 4 year old was hesitant. The bunks have numerous, closely spaced metal slats, which would work fine for an ordinary mattress. However, since I was using natural latex mattresses, I added sheets of 1/4 inch formaldehyde free plywood on top of the slats and below the mattresses. I particularly liked the fact that you can assemble it various configurations to fit the needs of the room.
Not bad to put together at all. Took the wife and I about 2 hours, we took our time.
They could do a better job of indicating the ladder and back rail on the second level options. We felt the ladder was lacking and replaced it with something else.
Otherwise, great bed. We've been using the top for storage and our daughter sleeps on the bottom. I love the amount of space between the two beds, tall adults can easily sit down without having head room issues. This is the kind of bed that should last the entire childhood so long as you don't let your little monster hang on it like a jungle gym.
Very happy
We love this, the kids love it too. It's sturdy. Some of the screws don't go in all the way. If it's in a location, it's not so bad, but in other places, they are sharp. My grand daughter cut her foot on one of the screws on the ladder. We can't take it out, can't make it less sharp, so we put duck tape over it to solve the issue. That's the only reason for the 4 stars, not 5. Great buy, easy to put up. Doesn't wiggle or creak any more than any other non-bunk bed. Grandkids are 9 & 11 - works out great & they love it.
I did a lot of research before deciding on this bed. What I liked the most was how thick the metal posts were compared to other metal loft beds. I also liked that all of the pieces were square instead of thin circles. This bed is very heavy. My regular UPS delivery woman wasn’t so happy about the purchase but was curious how they looked once up. (I do a lot of online shopping) the other plus I liked were the flat ladder steps. Most metal bunk beds have the thin circular rungs that most reviewers had complaints about them hurting kids feet. Also since I could only place both beds as they are in the picture I needed beds that had ladder options on both sides. This greatly reduced options available to us. I was able to put both beds together myself. It was difficult to do the final assembly without a second person holding the bed but it is doable. It did take a couple hours per bed for assembly. The only reason I did not give a 5 star was the second bed I put together was missing 2 of the pre-drilled holes so I had to bring 2 of the pieces to my brother-in law’s shop to have them drilled. That was a slight inconvenience and I could see how it could be a major one for some people.
It takes more than 5 hours to assemble. The E. & F circles were mixed up so had to redue a bunch of screws. Its too high and kind of wobbly. Definitly not for those afraid of heights. The stairs are a killer; its like my feet are being poke every step. I wish there are more holes on the side so i can lower the bed a bit. i couldnt screw one side.
