We bought this umbrella as a solution for a very sunny patio area on our Texas home. It was easy to put together. We filled the base with 150 lbs of sand (3 sand bags) and its not going anywhere. I open it up every morning and close it in the evening. Its on its second Texas summer and doing fine. Ill probably have to replace the umbrella next summer, but for those of you who live in places with 6 months of summer, thats a pretty good run. Whenever weve had tornado warnings or big storms, I just take the top part of the umbrella out of the base and put it in the garage. It was worth every dollar I paid.
I shopped around for an umbrella like this. It took me quite awhile to finally choose this one. I t covers my little patio and keeps the sun out. Its also waterproof. Make sure you get a really heavy duty base. I got a 62 lb one, but its also lodged under my outdoor sofa for extra weight. Id recommend something even heavier. The structure and pole is very sturdy. You do need to keep an eye on the wind as even with the vents a slight breeze puts a little stress on the umbrella. I have a wall that helps, but if you have the umbrella out in the open, I would suggest pulling it down on breezy days. The only complaint I have is the mechanism to turn it is plastic and upside down. No biggie, but it doesnt click to let you know that the umbrella is fully open. You just have to look at how taught it is. For that reason Im always worried Ill break it.
Very nice umbrella! Has held up for a year now so its pretty sturdy as they just dont make them to last anymore! But this one is nice and a great price!
Luv the umbrella, however, I did not secure it properly and the wind damaged 6 of the support metal rods that secure the umbrella. Emailed the seller and they agreed to replace the unit. Awesome customer service.
Very impressed with quality of the product. Easy to assemble.
The dislikes: packaging was damaged severely when it was delivered. The bags for putting sand in were not easy to fill up first of all and I didnt like the velcro fasting way of closing the sand up.
It works mind you; I just feel like theres a more secure way is all.
This job of filling up your weight bags with sand is definitely a two person job. Also if this umbrella is going through a patio table make sure to position the base underneath and line up your hole with the base before you put those bags of sand on the base. I tore up a brand new in door out door rug trying to slide 150 lbs of sand across the rug and one of the cross pieces on the bottom of the base snagged the brand new rug and yeahIm sure you can imagine the words I had for myself. Solearn from me and my mistake.
All in all I really love my new umbrella. If you are in the market for a beast of an umbrella, then look no further. We just bought a patio table set for 6 and this umbrella covers every one in the shade . One more thing before I shut up; this umbrella does Not tilt to any angle only straight up. So keep that in mind.
