Its a nice looking piece of furniture and easy to assembly. The instructions are vague but understandable if you separate the pieces before you try to assembly. The slider portion seems to stick a little, but maybe it will get better with use.
BEWARE:
While all the above is true, unfortunately after I wrote this the chair broke, literally broke in half. The two side supports that attach to the round base has a faulty anchoring system. First the chair started rocky (which it shouldnt) so I took the base off and looked at how it was constructed, the metal anchors were poorly designed but since I like the chairs look I attempted to try and fix it ( I really didnt want to return it). I glued the anchors with epoxy glue to the base and let it sit for a day. After that I sat in the chair for about 2/3 hours and the rocky stopped, unfortunately it broke off its base and lunched me forward onto the floor. While I didnt get hurt, the possibility was there and someone else could. Also while I was actually looking at the construction the wood is not mahogany, unless it compressed pieces of mahogany. I think between the faulty designed anchors and the compressed wood of the base this chair will not last for anyone.
I am an adult woman that is of normal weight and do not wiggle around or get up and down a lot, so it this chair is used by a man or children, it wouldnt even last as long as mine lasted Id pass if I were you.
The chair is exactly what I expected . Very comfortable, easy to assemble, looks great! I would recommend this chair to anyone who wants a good value with nice style
My first impression was hmmkind of lightweight, hope it is worth it, but once it was together, it is remarkably sturdy. It is NOT , but looks nice and seems very well built. We purchased a 2nd chair (identical) and both are great.
Now for the bottom line:
Pros:
/ Sturdy, nice looking, well built, great price
/ Comfortable, decent lumbar support (not huge, not small)
/ Fits into smaller spaces than most other recliners
/ Ottoman is also comfortable, light, easy to move, great looking, well designed/built, and serves as a great spare seat for short conversations or when putting on shoes
/ overall, no real complaints from either of uswe are happy with the purchases.
Cons:
/ The reclining mechanism is a bit jerky until you get used to it (I cant count the number of times I snapped it into and out of the reclining position). I am considering it operator error.
/ The ing mechanism is my biggest long term concern. The bottom rail is a thick plastic//not metal. It glides fairly smoothly and quietly because it is plastic, but I dont know how long to expect it to last without cracking or breaking (eventually). In the end, if we lose the ability in the future, I plan to remove the rail completely, put felt pads on the wood base, and go less from then on. Seems easy enough if that happens.
/ The black covering on the bottom of the seat is questionable. I have dining chairs with similar material under them. The on two of those dining chairs has completely disintegrated, and I replaced that with normal material using a staple gun on both chairs. It is just cosmetic in every case, and is limited to the on the bottom of the chair anyway (so it would be tough to notice it was gone, even if it was never replaced. The clean up of messy disintegrating was the worst part of the ordeal). However, the on the 6 other chairs is still fine, so it seems like a hit or miss item.
/ The chair p material does squeak against itself (as the material rubs together) when you move around a lot, or are reclining. I dont find it annoying, but I could imagine it could be a problem for some people. I was in a new office last week and all their chairs made the same amount of noise when we sat in them or moved around. I would not have noticed except I was paying attention after buying these chairs and was getting ready to write this review.
/ Finally, it would be optimal if the arm height could be adjusted (I think this might be asking a lot for the price), but sometimes, I want the armrests higher, which seems worth mentioning. They are currently no different than a normal sofa height.
Again//we really like our chairs! The pros significantly outweigh the cons
This chair arrived quickly and was easy to assemble. Two people can assemble in less than an hour. It totally updates the look of the living room compared to the old recliner. I purchased this for my elderly aunt that need something more firm and it works great and she is pleased as punch! The ottoman is very nice also.
Chair was easy to assemble (took me less than 1/2 hour) and is very comfortable. The only drawback is the quality of the but I wasnt expecting much better quality given the price.
Simple to assemble all of 15 minutes. All fasteners and tools were included. Looks EXACTLY like the picture. Arrived quickly with free shipping. Sure it would be nice if it reclined a little further but Im not using it for sleep . more of a relaxing work chair.
The chairs look great, are comfortable, and function as advertised. The assembly was not really that bad and I thought the instructions were fine. Im a fairly handy person so that wasnt a big deal. The only reason that i didnt give it a 5 star rating is because I order 3 chairs for my basement man cave and the smell of the processed is really strong. I dont have a lot of fresh air circulation so its been a week and its still strong. Thats my only complaint. I bought other chairs and they didnt have that strong chemical smell. Other than thatlooks good, and is comfortable.
I have bought a few other chairs for me to sit and relax at my computer. Some more expensive and a few less expensive. The last one was more expensive and the metal framing just broke and I found myself almost laying flat. As I was unable to sit up I decided to get this chair. It is very strong and you sit very well as your butt is firmly placed in the proper place in the center of the back of the seat. (no sliding forward). The back is almost straight up but not at a 45 degree. It is very well made and I highly recommend it.
