The chairs are decent. Easy to assemble, relatively comfortable for a stool. The biggest downside is that the seat posts come loose easily and give the chair wobble. It's very easy to fix but its frustrating that it happens so frequently.
These are great stools! I got them because I needed something that was between the height of a chair and a bar stool, and these will go down to 21 inches with the middle cross bar and 20 inches without the middle cross bar. I was getting pain in my shoulders typing at the computer because my chairs were all too high compared to my tables.
I was a bit hesitant to get these stools after reading the one star reviews.
I'm glad I did.
The wooden seats I got are quite solid and they match, not perfectly, but then I wouldn't want them to look exactly the same. They're supposed to have that rustic feel.
There are not only pre-drilled holes in the wooden seats, but there are metal nuts inside the pre-drilled holes for the screws to screw into.
The fact that the seats can spin off isn't an issue for me because I have my stools set at the lowest height with the cross bars and washers added.
My stools aren't wobbly. I do have them low though. There are also extra pieces (thick washers) provided to add to the middle bars to make the stools more stable.
No parts were missing.
The black paint isn't indiscriminately chipping off. The middle bar has been greased with oil. This is normal mechanics. The bars should be oiled so that the stools will turn smoothly. Don't touch the middle bars! I have no idea why you would, but if you do, then immediately clean your hands so that you don't get oil onto anything. I also recommend that you put the stools together before bringing them into the house.
The inserts at the leg bottoms are secure. They keep the stools from scratching the floor.
Product in use for general work around the kitchen and the second one is in my deer hunting blind. Reasonably well built even for a heavy person. Adjusts to the limits which I need. Haven't detected any looseness. Good product for the price.

Sear detracts from the overall look of the stool
The metal part of the stool was very attractive and sturdy. The wooden seat was made of inferior wood and the color was not nice at all
Solid stool, reasonable price.
