My daughters are sharing a room again with our new house and I wanted to save as much space as possiblethey each have one of these beds, and their room turned out beautiful. They are in love with individualizing their own spaces with in the same room.
The beds themselves are sturdy, safe, and spacioustheir mattresses are overstuffed with a pillow top and they are still well below the safety rail. The only thing they complain of is the thin ladder steps hurting their feet but, they also arent used to climbing up ladders every day, and just end up putting their feet side/ways/long/ways as they walk up. Its perfectly fine, I would recommend these to anyone.
We got this loft bed for my teenager, who is quickly outgrowing everything in his life. He loves that he has a to do homework at away from his sisters, and shelves for his books. It has plastic cross pieces, and after a while they seem to bend based on weight. So far, it has not been anything that seems unsafe, just more of a constant pressure. Were planning to make a board to go under the mattress to help with that and distribute weight more evenly.
This is one of the few beds without a gap above the ladder. I have a very squirmy, wobbly kid, so this was a vital feature. He can climb over the rail safely even when sleepy, but would have fallen out in his sleep without it.
Im planning to follow another reviewers idea for adding wood above the ladders steps to make them less painful, though my kid is as light as a feather and so hasnt complained about pain yet.
I needed a second adult to put this together. It says to assemble it upright from the start, so you need to be able to hold things up high to put them together.
The whole thing wobbles much more than I would like, however it isnt going anywhere. Even I would have a heck of a time pulling this thing over or down, which helped relieve my kids nerves. Im trying to figure out if I need to tighten it regularly, and if so, how often.
The slats under the bed are not individually strong. Kids being kids, we all know theyll tug on them and try to use them for gymnastics, and likely hang things from them as well. They bend quite a lot when my walking stick of a kid tries to hang from them, so do not buy this with the intention that you could hang anything below the bed.
I purchased this bed with assembly in February for my 8 year old son. After it was assembled we discovered that there is no gap above the ladder so he would need to climb out while straddling the high rails. Completely dangerous! Since we had bought it and paid to have it built there was little we could do at that point so we tried it out. The lack of a ladder gap made it dangerous for him and dangerous for me when I climbed up to read to him. The other night he fell out of it as he climbed out early in the morning and thankfully caught himself and was hanging from the railing until I heard him scream and ran over. If he had fallen, I cant imagine what would have happened. I dont want him to sleep in it anymore. I want my money back and to have a bed I feel he is safe to climb in and out of / thats not this one. What do I do to get this bed removed and my money back? Its a ridiculous design. Additionally, the steps are so painful to climb because they are not flat. I needed to order these ladder pads from England to cover them because they hurt our feet so badly.
Delivery was timely. Box was in decent shape. We began to assemble the instructions were clear enough to be able to assemble it without a major headache. The holes/hardware aligned without issues. It came together within about a 2 hour timeframe. It definitely is easier with 2 people. I cant imagine having to do it alone. We assembled each side downstairs then brought it upstairs then assembled it fully together up there in my sons room. He loves it!! It is reasonable sturdy (actually more so than I expected) however it does make some noise as he climbs on. (He only weighs about 75 lbs). I have been up there it held me fine (grown adult female 125lbs).
Generally, this is a nice looking bed / the best looking of the many many beds we looked at while searching for one.
It simply looks cool.
It takes a while to assemble and you REALLY need to be careful with all the parts because of the special purpose holes (for the ladder for instance). I ended up disassembling the initial frame and swapping the sidebars as a result. Not a big deal, and definitely not a manufacturers fault.
HOWEVER, there are two problems with this bed:
1. Everything is designed as a rectangle, so the bed is shaky as a result. No matter how hard you tighten the screws it remained wobbly. There is not a single triangle in the construction, which would have helped stability a lot. Not a problem for a small kid / does not seem like it will fall apart, just feels weird to have the bed shaky and squeaky like that.
2. The ladder. WHO CAME UP WITH THE TINY ROUND STEPS? It hurts to climb on them. We are trying everything in our imagination to wrap around those steps so it is not a torture to climb up. Cmon! How much/cost did you save by not making them regular flat steps? Major PIA if you ask me.
Other comments / the shelves are a nice touch. However, the main table shelf is really narrow. I ended up using the top shelf as a table extension adding two slider brackets underneath.
Overall: Looks cool. Some design flaws. Still the best and coolest looking option for a small space. My boy loves it.
This is a substantial bed that should last a while. It took a few hours for my husband and I to assemble. One could assemble it alone, but I would not recommend it / use two people. Its sturdy enough that the adults can climb up to change the sheets. Its snug with only 8 ceilings in our house, but its no prob for kids. Im planning to buy one for my other kid.
Pretty good design. Very sturdy. Easy to put together. Took 2 of us about 1 and 1/2 hours to assemble. No missing pieces. My 7 year old granddaughter said she LOVES this loft bed.

Plastic will eventually bend with weight.

Great, if a tad wobbly

Great item, just as described.
The item was delivered in a timely manor and is just as decribed. Unfortunately it doesnt fit the space we wanted it for and I will be returning it.

so good. You do need a slim mattress on it
So far, so good. You do need a slim mattress on it, the rail is pretty low. Other than that its working out great for my sons room.
