First off, this bed is a great value. I needed something to go in the guest room of my new house, but as a new homeowner I needed it to be inexpensive. This fit the bill nicely. It has the highest weight limit, both top and bottom bunk, that I could find in any similar frame and was the least expensive of those weight options.
Second, you will definitely want another person to help with assembly. There are A LOT of pieces and the first few would be difficult to put together without someone stabilizing them. Also make sure you double check which direction each piece should be facing. I made that mistake and had to take 3 pieces out after discovering it. Fortunately it did not require full disassembly to correct my mistake, but it was annoying nonetheless.
Third, the directions will tell you to put all the support rods for under the mattresses on first and then install the plastic stabilizer pieces afterwards. DO NOT DO THIS. As you install the rods, put in the plastic stabilizers. Youll thank yourself later. I also recommend using a rolling chair for installing the rods on the bottom bunk. Your back will thank you immediately.
After this was fully assembled I am very impressed with just how strong this bed frame really is. I had a similar bed as a teen and even when everything was new and the screws were tight it creaked and groaned. This new one I just assembled does no such thing. There is no give or play in any of the connections. Im super impressed. Like it a lot
This bed is really sturdy, it is a lot of work to put together, however the only thing you need that does not come in the box is a phillips screwdriver, everything else is included.
The instructions are pretty clear (if you look at them carefully and look at a picture of the assembled bed).
I really liked the way the parts were clearly labeled, the bolts and screws as well as the plastic conectors and stoppers all came with extras thag were labeled as extras, so if you drop and lose or damage one you have spares.
The beds have slats with plastic spacers that connect them and plastic stoppers that keep them from moving.
Mattresses are not included.
The whole bed comes flat pack, the box is as long as the bed and about 1foot deep by less than 2 feet wide, so it can easily store in a garage until ready to assemble.
Give yourself lots of time and 2/3 people to put it together.
I read the reviews and purchased this bed anyway, and Im so glad I did. It was easier to assemble than I came to expect after reading the reviews. I did not need any help, and Im kind of a short small woman. Im not happy with the slats and can see where the ends would end up breaking under pressure. So no jumping into bed / youll wear the ends out. And kids, no jumping on the bed. Its not a trampoline. Jump on your parents bed
