Purchased this bed from Walmart which was much cheaper plus free shipping for my daughter who wanted to change up her room. According to her, she wanted something that was more grown up and that provided more space. She is 10 about to turn 11 but she is all grown up and felt her current bedroom set which is light colored wood had to hit the road.
The bed was super easy to put together and its sturdy. We have high ceilings so it works out well. My daughter is still able to use her canopy above the bed which she loves because the canopy has stars that light up. Since she has gotten the bed, all she wants to do is stay in her room. Absolutely awesome product!!
After reading the positive reviews and some negative ones, we went ahead and purchased it. It was everything that we expected based on the reviews. Probably sturdier than we expected too. Its a heavy, solid frame. We bought it for our 9 year old. Hes about 65 lbs and 4 1/2 feet tall. We have 8 foot ceilings and he has room to sit up on the bed and can walk under the bed without ducking. Assembly was simple, but a lot of pieces, so it took a few hours. Some pieces might seem like they dont fit, but they do. You just have to loosen screws that you already screwed in then put the piece in place then tighten all the screws again. I read some reviews that say the frame squeaks. Weve had the loft for about a month and havent heard any squeaking. This was definitely a good choice.
It gets squeaky after the first month but sleeping with a fan I dont ever notice it! A 6in memory foam matress works fine with it as well. Overall I am very please and has helped me fit a lot of stuff into a small space for college. This is a cute design,
My daughter loves her new loft bed.
It was easy to put together, and feels pretty sturdy.
We have recessed lighting in our house, and one is directly above where we had to place the bed (so it can be against a wall). For safety purposes, I am having an electrician come out to remove the light and place a cover over the hole so we can reinstall the light once we are not using the bed any longer. This is a 200 expense I did not consider when purchasing the bed.
We added a basket attached with velcro straps to hold books, water bottles etc to the loft level, and strung led mini lights under the bed for fun lighting in the desk area. Dont over think it, youll love it!!
Overall it looks great and it saves you tons of space. Im 25 yrs old and weigh 155 and 58. I find this perfect for my size.
My only complaints about this was during the assembly, I dont know if this applied to any one else but there were 2 screws that did not line up with the holes of the front ladder because one of the pieces was a tad bit too long. Thankfully the ladder is also secure in 2 other sides but that did frustrate me a lot because I tried taking everything apart to see if I could fix the problem and it only made other more important screws not line up.
The mattress in the picture is 8 inches and fits perfectly.
Please dont build this on your own, at least until you have all 4 sides up and secured otherwise you will seriously irritate yourself and get hurt.
Overall the 3 stars is because of the pieces during the assembly but the final product met my expectations in what I was looking for which is extra space and a good looking design. But other than that its nice
Having owned other Dorel products I was disappointed. One screw completely stripped out for starters. The other point is this product cant easily be taken apart and reassembled. Make sure when you assemble the bed its going to be there for a while. Once taken apart its trash. so you get what you pay for.
