I would recommend. This is beautiful when put together. It took my husband and myself (who was 9 months pregnant) about an hour to put together. There are a lot of pieces, but I think it was worth all the effort!
Better than I expected! Very nice looking and sturdy. I bought this for visiting grand children, adding a bed rail in front also make this good for the younger kids. I assembled it myself in about an hour. Pieces were marked and directions were straight forward. Even tough the directions indicated not to use power tools, I used my drill/driver at a lower power and tightened final few turns by hand. The only awkward part is installing all the slats. I laid the rails on a carpet, and inserted the first slat with its foam. Then I wrapped a bungee cord around it to hold it together, this gave some flexibility to finish installing the remaining slats. Every few just moved the bungee cord up. Then I put another bungee cord around it so I could handle it without all the slats falling out.
Just buy it!!! Daybed is modern and clean. Took my hubs and I 2 hours to put it together. Wasnt difficult, we just wanted to follow all the instructions so as not to have to do it all over. The J pieces (in my photo) are the ones everyone is talking about. It is a good idea to tape the long pieces together when you have the J pieces in so they dont come out. Its a pain when they do! Its solid and seems sturdy. No creaking. I have a 10 inch memory foam mattress on it and a 5 inch mattress on the trundle. It all fits very snugly, perfect fit. Glad I chose this bed instead of a more pricey one!
So in love with this piece Ive been sleeping on this bed every night for a few weeks now and I have no complaints. Doesnt make any noise when I turn over. Absolutely no wiggle or squeak. Im a big and tall person so this is saying a lot. 511 220lbs.
Overall we are happy! For the price you really cannot beat the quality, and it looks great as well. The wood is soft, likely pine, but it is real wood at least. I was somewhat put off by some of the reviews that stated it was difficult to put together, however I did not find that that was the case. It is tedious, there are a lot of parts, but it took me about an hour or so and I did not need anyone else to help. The reviews stating it took six hours and three people are quite an exaggeration. I did not follow the instructions, which would have you assemble the three sides and then somehow try to connect all three while placing the back section without all the slats falling out. Instead I built the two sides, connected them loosely with the lower rails, and then installed the bottom rail for the slats. I tightened the lower screws more, so as to make a V shape, put the slats in and then finally set the top rail which snapped right into place. Basically Just build the two sides, and connect them with the lower rails, and build the back section in place. This works out much better than how the manual tells you to build it and only requires one person.
