so this is great little swing set for kids, id say ages maybe 3/7 or so.
STURDY
weve had it now for about 6 months and has held up and pretty sturdy. (but if kids TOO big swing on it, its probably going to damage it. so this is NOT for really big kids. )
the wood appears to be pine, stained to a red. but its not redwood (of course, redwood is more weather resistant), but the pine so far has held up. i imagine its been treated to be weather/resistant)
ASSEMBLY
if youre a do/it/yourselfer, and good at putting stuff together no problem, the assembly of the swing set shouldnt be too hard. (but i wouldnt say it was easy)
if youre NOT a do/it/yourselfer, have your handy uncle or neighbor or handyman put it together
it really takes 2 people to put together.
After figuring out that Santa cant wait until the week of Christmas in order to hunt down a swing setwe found this one. It was super easy to put together and easy for my husband and I to position it in the front yard. I personally like that it has secure in place rods which prevents the swing set from lifting. We knew what amount we wanted to spend yet wanted to stay away from a metal swing set that would end up rusting by next season. Glad that we went with this one.
Heres an honest review, grab a drink and enjoy. Overall is this a swing set made of wood. yes. Does it take two people to build, unless youre over six feet tall that has strong yoga skills and have a ladder thats seven feet. yes. Can it be assembled in less than a hour yes if youre a black belt master builder.
Heres two issues I have with the build, the top beam that holds the swings, well its possible to install it all upside down because the instructions suck at saying which side is up. How is this possible you ask? Well the pre/drilled bolt holes are offset, and nowhere on that beam does it say This side up, that makes too much sense. Oh yeah, theres also a amendment to the Pictionary instructions, good luck deciphering the hieroglyphics of the pictures, but there are 6 thicker washers, these are spacers because the bolts used to hold the swings are too long. Got to use the spacers by the eyelet of the bolt so you can use those sweet plastic caps to protect the hardware from the ultra harsh environmental factors like rain and bees. those damn bees.
After attaching the swing bolts, undoing them to attach the spacers, undo them again because the beam was upside down, it took a whole whopping 75 minutes to build, three beers, one bonfire (hey it was cold outside, dont judge) and lost one Kobalt 9/16 ratchet wrench as I tested my fast ball pitch into the woods (Did it feel good, yes, was it over kill. meh).
So why the low stars you ask? Well aside from what I mentioned above, the wood had dings in it and honestly the top beam has an internal crack where the swing bolt runs through. I can go to Lowes for busted lumbar if I wanted to. Yes you need to use the ground steaks as the frame is short (73 is the length of the legs, so not long at all). When the kiddos decided they want to defy gravity the swing legs will rock.

The swing set seems great but I cant finish assembling it for my kids for Christmas, because it has a bolt that is missing the threading. There are no extra bolts included in the package, just extra washers.
