Received product in a couple LARGE boxes that were damaged pretty badly upon arrival which originally got me concerned. However nothing was missing! in fact i had an extra screw! The item wasnt damaged(save for a scratch or two which is fine by me.
This item DEFINATLY requires two people at least to put the frame together unless your extremely crafty, but once the frame is set, you can do it by yourself(takes more time). Once finished, it looks REALLY nice! I love the finished product...it gave me a bit of a hassle to put together but thats because i was largely by myself(couple awesome neighbors helped me with the frame).
The Desk is strong enough to hold my 40 TV, 24 Screen, Xbox, PS3, Laptop, Speakers and a few decorations and wont sag so your definatly getting decent quality. Like i said...my only problem with it was the nutsey hassle i had putting it together and the fact that the boxes were almost ripped apart when it initially came. Id rate overall everything at 4 1/2 stars. _
I have space for my lap top, humidifier, my dogs bed and my nightstand underneath with my printer on it. It would be cool if it had a cord that would plug into an outlet and would serve as an extension cord idea, with outlets on other places on the frame. And the ladder should have grips because my feet constantly slide all over the place.
It took one person to put it together, and a little help from other people. There was an extra screw, (probably why it squeaks, and shakes) at the time we couldnt figure out where it went.
Shipping was awful, It came a few days AFTER the latest date estimated. It came with a giant dent on one leg. The boxes had lots of oil on it. The shippers (Godfather Shipping) refused to bring the boxes inside the apartment because Its against our companies policies,.
This is a great product, especially for the price. Well constructed and pretty easy to put together. Assembly takes at least two people and a couple of hours. I took the opportunity to make it a father/son project. My tween loves it. Like some of the other reviews, shipping was a little bit of a challenge. However, I wouldnt let it detour you from buying it. Just know it going in.
I cant say enough great things about this bed, made by er Fine Furniture, HOWEVER, dont buy it from Furniture Creations if you want it delivered within any reasonable time frame. Now that that minor technicality is out of the way, lets talk about this wonderful piece of tech-cave dream furniture!
I have had this bed for well over a month now, and I didnt review it immediately, because I wanted to be able to experience the product and know it better before reviewing. I love this bed! The bed arrives in two GIANT boxes, and you REALLY need a second person to help you get it off the truck. I simply laid mine down on the curb, and opened the boxes and took the pieces inside one at a time, because the boxes REALLY ARE too heavy for one person to move alone unless you can drag it (no stairs). It is NOT fully disassembled, the boxes are the size of a full size mattress! The bed came with fairly easy to understand assembly instructions, and using tips from previous users, it was fairly straight-forward with just a screwdriver. Like others, I started with the bed on its side, then flipped it up on the third step, way easier than trying to hold the loft base up and screwing it into the end pieces. I chose to not attach the shelf, and it makes it so my 22 monitors fit nicely across the back of the workspace... the very VAST workspace.
With a few very minor assembly modifications (tossing the shelf supports into the trash, and flipping the shelf over and down) after putting the rear screen mesh pieces in upside down, I then bolted the shelf on flat, making a nice solid backboard base to lean my monitors against with just enough room for cable management (and making it so that I didnt have to find a place to store the shelf since I wasnt using it). The desk is prime for minor modifications, and has a TON of potential! The desk is just fantastic. It is so big! I am not used to having this much workspace, its just awesome for a geek like myself. I have dual 22 monitors, and I still have plenty of room to put my tower on one side of the desk, and my laptop on the other with nothing in front of my displays. The construction is GREAT, very sturdy. The metal is SOLID, very well designed, and the desk is heavy, sturdy, and does NOT bow at all, even if I prop my legs up on it. The railing around the bed, and the frame itself are very very solid, meaning, if you handcuff someone to them, they will NOT be getting away! Yay! I could easily fit a dorm fridge under the desk and have no issue with footspace. Plenty of room for a coffeemaker on the desk, as well. The slat type loft base is solid and I can literally hang from the bars of it and it doesnt budge. it is also well-suited for led stick lights (or even cathodes), which make for great desk illumination. One thing I want to suggest to others is that you can lay a flat bedsheet, curtain, or basically anything down on the loft base before laying the mattress into the frame, and it makes for a really cool/attractive ceiling over the desk area. I simply have a black curtain in there, though you could also use a full size dust ruffle or just about anything, and it looks really nice, and allows you to tie in your decor somewhat (you can match your curtains or whatever).
Basically, this bed is perfect. I cant think of much bad to say about it, other than the fact that it has a big sticker you have to soak off with goo-gone on one of the rails. It is true that the square frame ladder is a bit tough on the feet, but I found I got used to it soon enough, and learned how to place my foot so it doesnt hurt. The bed DOES make some creaking noises if you do any repetitive motion while in the bed loft, if ya know what I mean. Its not bad, but it can be distracting. I think that is just the nature of metal to metal joints, it certainly doesnt move much, and is very very solid.
Ill upload my customer photographs of my setup. Its awesome. Im thinking of converting my desk chair into a swing, suspended from the loft. That would just make something awesome into killer!
This was a GREAT purchase for a college students studio apartment. VERY sturdy and the desk and shelf is amazing in size. Shipping has a slight issue, had it delivered to South Dakota and it arrived before we did from Indiana. The freight company was very accommodating and held it until we arrived and once we called they delivered it ASAP. No complaints and again this bed is heavy duty built and was not hard at all to put together, very clear directions. However it is very heavy, we had to take it out of the boxes and carry it up to the second floor piece by piece so have some strong people when it arrives. Again, this is a great piece of furniture for the money and a great space saver!
I DID NOT buy this on . I bought it from a local furniture store. Its truly a quality piece of furniture. Im a 165 pound college student, and this loft bed holds me no problem. It is VERY STURDY. Ill post a picture of my setup. Although it may be a little more difficult to put the sheets on your mattress, it is well worth the price for the quality of the product and the space youll save. The desk and shelf are a heavy particle board with a grippy resilient coating. The desk is sturdy enough for me to sit on. If you have any questions comment and Ill respond as soon as possible.
The product waas recieved timely. The boxes are huge. You need two or three set of hands. I put it together in two hours with my 9 and 12 years old sons. A cordless drill helps!
After months of looking for and nearly buying that piece of crap and then a dainty one at that I actually cancelled the order on once I found this bad boy I ordered it on the spot its like the best full size loft bed I could find. I did pay more but its worth it, durable as all heck, holds me just fine I weigh 175 and one fat chick (I know raise my standards) but worth every penny. The only thing that could make this better is if it had some sort of lighting pre-installed on the bottom side built in. Yeah and I built it myself it was heavy but if you get creative you can do it solo.
This turned out to be exactly what I had in mind, great customer service, very sturdy and suits my daughters room great. Be careful if youre accident prone; the bed bottom is just the right height for my head and Im 53!
This bed is extremely sturdy. It took my friend and me about 2 hours of assembly but we were goofing around a lot. Great product.would recommend seller
