    Has a big footprint

I ordered this bed set for my twin grandsons. I figured the loft beds would avoid any fights over who got the top bunk (my 3rd and younger grandson gets the bottom bed). I ordered the metal version, but received the wood version, which was fine with me (the wood version was more expensive, but I was only charged the metal version price). The assembly was a bit time/consuming (lots of parts, and some of the screw placements are a bit awkward to work with), but everything fit, and no parts were missing. The only problem was that the bed was 3 too long for our room (shared with their dad). The solution was to downsize my son from a queen mattress to a full mattress, and then it fit fine. We decided to put 3/8 plywood on the slats to form platforms for the mattresses, because the slats dont reach close enough to the ends of the frames to prevent the mattresses from sagging at their head or foot. The slats are sturdy enough to support the weight of the mattresses otherwise. Those were the only issues we had. Otherwise, we are very happy with the beds. The wood is good quality and nicely stained and finished, and the beds are sturdy and attractive. Notice in the photo that one ladder is completely vertical, and the other stands away from the bed at a slant. The slanted ladder seems to be easier for my grandsons, age 6, to climb, though they both use both ladders. The boys are still small enough that they can sit up on the bed without hitting their heads against the ceiling, but that will change as they grow. There is plenty of room under the beds for shelving along the wall and a kid/size table and chairs, so they have made a lot of floor space available, which is nice. If you have the floor space to fit the beds (be sure to measure your space, you need 120 on the long side), I think you would be very pleased with them. My boys are delighted with them. youll be content
