Serves our purposes well: guest bed for visiting Grandkids. At most, will be used 15 times per year.
Weight limit on top bunk is 165 lbs., so be aware. Also needed: bunkie board or mattress with internal frame that can support the mattress weight properly across the thinner slats. (Total height for mattress and support is only 6, so plan accordingly.)
Wood is very soft, and though it is very sturdy now, I would not expect it to hold up well to nightly use over many years.
Railing on top bunk goes around all four sides, a big plus as we wanted to have the bed extend into the room rather than border a wall.
You will need a hammer to tap some of the dowels into place; some push in much more easily than others.
Assembly was easy and intuitive; excellent diagrams and labeling of parts.
Finish/stain is uneven in places, giving an amateurish look. not happy at all
Good for visitors, not good for many years.
