These are incredibly easy to assemble. A combination of the way the assembly is engineered and the good materials make these beds (I bought two) something I will likely keep forever, passing on through my sons family and his family. They can be folded up easily for storage and reassembled. The instructions are almost not necessary at all because the design is so intuitive. There is a mild smell, as I have come to expect from anything from China, but it is mild, and I didnt smell it after a couple of hours. I really think it was just the packaging that smelled. The beds frames are not materials that hold smells.
