Great Bed for 4/5 Year Olds! Low to the ground, and upper level has guard rails (Use 6 mattress)
Quality:
This bed seems sturdy as most screws cut into the wood nicely. There are a few blemishes in the wood and they just painted over it several times. One of the dowels went through the hole because the directions were wrong. My soon to be 5 year old will love it.
Style:
I bought the white and it looks clean and modern. Very nice with the rest of the bedroom set.
Size:
I think this is a perfect size for a child that thinks they are a big boy but still occassionally wets the bed. I was worried about changing the sheets, and if I could gain access. The bed is sturdy but can be easily moved with a little effort away from the wall if you need to clean, etc. I have a normal size mattress on the bottom (foam) and my little one has room. I thought it might be too thick of a mattress and make him feel trapped. He will see the bed tomorrow as a birthday surprise, but I laid in the bottom and its fine. He can sit up easily. As for the top, he isnt brave enough to sleep up there yet, so I ordered some of the exercise floor mats and screwed down the corners. Another mom had a review where she did that on the bottom. I still think I will order a thin 6 mattress for the top because one day he will be brave enough. But for now, Im going to see if the pseudo floor holds up for a little fort/play area on top.
Directions:
The directions include have several errors. I read all of the reviews and I agree. You can easily follow the directions,.IF you lay out all of your materials FIRST. Put the screws in the order of size, and double check the direction of the wood. The directions definitely name the wrong screw sometimes, but if you go by the length in the picture and look at the tip, you can figure it out. The roof was totally off. The were saying to put the dowel where the screw should go, so that took me sometime to figure that out and the roof on part M didnt have the predrilled holes so several times I thought I caught the thread only to find the screw fully exposed. USE A DRILL I was prepared based upon reviews. I was able to shave off an hour in set up doing it that way. I still had to finish on several items but the entire bed is ALLEN WRENCH, and you finish off the slats with Philips.
All in all, this was on sale and I saw this product for up to 1,000 elsewhere. So go with this vendor. And they are in the US so they have customer support. I emailed them to make sure the product shipped and it was here quickly.
Thanks! My kiddo is going to love it. I am very happy with it
