A good space saver, but has some issues.

The biggest issues with this bed (that Ive experienced so far) are in the parts and assembly process. While the instructions are easy to understand and in theory the construction is simple, there are many pieces towards the end of the frame construction that you will have to manhandle into place because they dont fit properly. On more than one occasion I had to forcefully bend pieces to get the screws to line up with the holes properly. The worst example of this is the main crossbeam that supports the mattress. Its supposed to be bent up at a 90 degree angle on both ends so that it sits flush with the frame and then dips down so that the mattress can be placed on top. But, when I took mine out of the box, one end was only bent to about a 45 degree angle, meaning it was not laying down anywhere NEAR flush with the frame! I thought I was going to have to send out for a replacement piece, but finally I was able to force the thing into place by propping the bar up over a pile of books and pushing down on the end of it with my foot as hard as I possibly could to bend it into the right angle / and this is a sturdy piece of too so it took some serious force. Huge pain in the ass. Some other things of note: / The desk is placed VERY high. Im 63 and still have to lift my hands considerably higher than whats comfortable when I sit in a a chair of average height. Youll likely need a height adjustable office chair to get high enough up to comfortably type with this thing, especially if youre a shorter person. Dont expect this desk to be usable at all for kids. / One of the shelf pieces was totally miscut. Its about a half inch too big for the space its supposed to fit, meaning I had to ram it into place as hard as I could to even get it close. Then when I finally got it down flat, the screw holes were about a half inch out of place, but the thing was jammed in so tightly that I couldnt adjust it. It works fine because its securely hammered in there and not moving regardless of the screws, but its still annoying. / The bed itself is sturdy enough, but like any loft, it does shake a decent amount when youre climbing up or moving around on the bunk. Keep in mind that because the desk is attached to the frame, whatever you have sitting there will be at risk of falling off if you shake the bed too much on your way up, or during other activities. Regardless, the bed is safe and youre not going to be at risk of having it collapse on you in your sleep. When you get past the issues listed above, the bed is actually really great at saving space, as one would imagine. I live in a tiny NYC apartment and its freed up a ton of room underneath for me to use. So as long as you can actually assemble the damn thing and youre careful with the shakiness, it does the job. However I had to chop off 3 stars for the rather extreme problems I had with assembly, to the point where it was almost unbuildable a couple of times.
