Simple set up out of the box (hardware is in the futon look under the cushion)
3 step process
attach legs
attach pieces to keep the 2 sides together that is it
Firm memory foam cushion is comfortable
easy to open and close
when laid flat works great as a futon should
it does leave the space on the side/back open so the view to the back isnt as pleasing to see so I filled it in with unused throw blankets and pillows .
I am happy this is a great addition to the office that used to house a twin bed that was too big for the area.
