Assembly took a while, but wasnt very difficult but must follow directions very closely as the side frames all look alike, though you find out later that they are diffirerent based on their holes. Required two people to finish assembly and place bed on top of the other. Their is little head space on the bottom, but it works for my 4 year old girl. I dont think the bottom bunk would work past age 7, given its low height.
