This is a decent bed. It is made of solid wood. Not sure what kind since it is stained dark. The finish comes off kind of easy if you hit it with something hard, so be careful.
Assembly wasnt terrible. You should have at least two people. The ladder was the most frustrating. Just because it was awkward.
I posted a photo of a modification we made to the beds. The rails do not come up high enough on the top bunk for me to feel comfortable letting my 6 year old sleep up there and not fall off. You could get a thinner mattress, but who wants to sleep on that?
The bottom bunk has no rails. So we added some. My 3 year old sleeps on the bottom bunk and can easily roll out. This modification eliminates that possibility. We will probably paint what we added eventually.
Overall, its a decent bed for the price.
