great bed!!! Frame. Manufacturing tolerances made assembly quite tedious.
I received this bed frame in the mail yesterday, and as far as sturdiness and robustness goes I give it 5 stars. It has lots of individual members which reinforce the base. I purchased this to use with a Nectar full size mattress which fit like a charm on this frame. It does have plenty of room underneath for storing bins or items (this is what sold it for me as I live in a small apartment and need all the extra space I can get).
I cannot give this item 5 stars, as the assembly process was quite atrocious and as a Mechanical Engineer I cant in good faith walk away from this without an explanation/review. Each of the longest base members are comprised of two half-length pieces. When putting each of the two half-pieces together to construct the full length member, I noticed that it was nearly impossible to get each piece parallel to one another, resulting in a single long piece with a kink in the middle. Because of this joint, other pieces had to be bent into place to get holes to line up. Now I do see that some members were slotted in an attempt to comply to any tolerance deviations. But between a few parts, the threaded holes were nowhere close to the clearance slot. I had to use my woodworking clamps to pull some members into the correct position before I could manage to get screws in place. I feel bad for anyone who doesnt have the same toolset, as I could not physically get these pieces lined up with all of the force my arms could exert.
I do recognize that this could either be too loose of manufacturing tolerances, or some of the parts could have bent or deflected during shipping. I believe it was the former, and hope this review can serve as a warning to future buyers. Regardless of this headache, I still dont regret purchasing it as it is sturdy as all hell and (the finished, assembled product) is a good value for the cost.
