Ive had this type of bed before. It didnt last long and Im not a big person. When I opened this one I could tell immediately that the wood was a better quality. Even the planks were much thicker and more polished. The Velcro and peg system holds the plans in place nicely! This is the first time Ive had metal support in the middle and at first I wasnt a fan. I like to decorate my room according to feng shui standards which dictate a solid wood frame but I think the metal support gave me the additional sturdiness I needed. I did find the instructions to be a bit confusing, lining up the letters to the numbers on the stickers. I finally just did it by sight and gut instinct and it came out perfect. The ratchet set thats included made it a lot easier to get into the tight areas and it included spare parts which is very helpful. One of the bolts wasnt threaded properly but I was able to use one from the spare parts packet. Im a 58/year/old single woman and I put it together in about 25 minutes. 10 of that was just trying to figure out the instructions at first. After I got the mattress and the headboard and everything else together I was so happy. Its a nice solid bed and looks pretty. The only problem I had was with the middle wooden side feet (Im holding one in the photo). Theyre right where your toes want to go when you climb into bed and its perfectly square so the edges are sharp. I ended up taking mine off because I just know Im going to have a bad injury if I dont. If those were rounded off at the edges it would be better. I dont know that I would take those off if I were a larger person or spend a lot of time sitting on the side of the bed. I only did it because they dont completely touch the floor anyway, I think theyre there just for a back up support. Other than that, great value for the money and the quality is superb!
Side note: This frame isnt designed to attach a headboard. Once I had my mattress on it I was able to push it against the wall to secure my headboard.
