Took about 4 hours to build. The instructions were clear and easy to follow. Bed is pretty sturdy for my child who weighs ~ 65 pounds or so, but it does shake from time to time. This could probably be fixed by securing the bed to the wall. The bars on the ladder are thin and painful to my feet (being an adult and about double my kid's weight), but they don't seem to bother him. The only thing that I would change is to have an opening at the top of the ladder/side railing to climb onto the bed more easily. As it is, you have to awkwardly stand on the top rung and sling your leg over the top of the side rail. Not sure if this was not built in because of safety reasons or regulations? We will see how it all holds up with time.
