I took my time putting it together, using only a simple ratcheting screwdriver set, and had no problems. I find the best approach with assembling this type of furniture is to be gentle, go slow, and not to use any power tools.
The table had a bit of a chemical odor at first, but I left the windows open in the room and that smell dissipated in a few hours. The table seems sturdy enough for my uses. I dont plan on putting anything heavy on the shelves.
