This is a remarkably sturdy chair! It was delivered in pristine condition, despite the usual rough handling of UPS. This was due to the way the manufacturer carefully padded all of the parts and packed it into the box.
The chair came in two sections: the base and the back. It required two of us to line up the holes to fasten the back to the base, but the bolts went right in and held it securely in place.
This rocker is perfectly suited for soothing fussy babies. The chair is not soft and squishy like other rockers Ive tried. Therefore, you are not likely to fall asleep while rocking your baby late at night or in the wee hours of the morning. Neither is it hard and uncomfortable, like a wooden rocker, that can make your weary bones ache after a while. The distance between the back and the front is not so great that you have to slouch for your knees to fold over the seat; nor is it hard to lower and raise yourself into. This is very important when you are holding an infant--particularly if you have short legs. The rocker glides very smoothly, too, which means Baby will fall asleep quickly. It is compact and doesnt take a lot of space in a small room.
The dove gray may be a little light for most nurseries. I am afraid its going to stain awfully easily--both from baby spit up or diaper leaks and Mom or Dads body oils. Therefore I recommend using towels to cover the arms of the chair. I noticed that the welt is a different color from the rest of the chair, too. Maybe a darker color would be more practical.
