Overall, we love this bed. The ladder design is great, and there is ample clearance between the bunks for me to sit up on the bottom bunk with an 8 inch mattress (Though I am only 5'2.) I doubt it would support the 400lb per bed over time, as it claims, but it is still a very sturdy bed and can support 200lb per bed. The quality of the wood is above average, though we did still get small cracks in a few boards when tightening screws. The finish is nice, but I don't love all of the holes that show where the screws are inserted. I found the stickers they provided to cover them really strange. I think a plastic plug of some kind or even wooden plugs would be much nicer. We just opted to leave the holes showing, and I barely notice them most of the time now. The clearance under the the bottom bunk is also great! We have room for the kids' sleeping bags, off-season clothes, and a few other items that needed to be stored.
