Not hard to assemble, but the wood is soft and once constructed its not firm. The trundle needed reinforced as after assembly and moving it under the bottom bunk I felt as though I was going to yank the trundle frame apart when pulling it out. Had to buy extra supporting angle pieces and install on trundle frame, yet its still somewhat flimsy. Weve 6 grandchildren who only stay occasionally so well be fine, but if this was an everyday use bunk beds for two or three 80lb+ kids, Id probably recommend something more stout. Good Quality for Cost
