I bought 2 for my twin 2 year old boys. Initially, I was a little disappointed when they both arrived with some cosmetic damage. One car had a cracked windshield and one had several cracked plastic welds that held the front end of the car in place (it was actually completely broken free and loose). However, these are really just cosmetic issues and dont affect the function or fun for my children.
Assembly wasnt difficult for me but Im also pretty handy with mechanical/electrical things. From my perspective, if you can handle an assembly, you can handle this, no problem.
A bigger problem was that, after assembly, one car would not work in the forward position (only reverse). But, it worked fine with the remote control which meant that the motor and batteries were fine. I sent a note to the service team but they disappointed in their response telling me to put the forward/reverse switch in the car into the forward position. Um, yeah, I tried that. Giving up on their technical support capabilities, I decided to check all the connectors myself, disconnecting them, giving a visual inspection, and reconnecting. Although I didnt see an issue in my work, after completing it, the car worked fine which means that it was probably just a bad connection somewhere and everything has worked fine ever since so Im OK with that.
One confusing thing is their instructions for charging the battery which contradict each other several times. Fortunately, I have extensive experience with Lithium-ion batteries so I mostly ignored what they recommend and focused on the voltages which are shown. I would recommend charging in 4 hour increments. When the battery reads 13.2V (wait several minutes for it to settle after charging), no need to continue to charge it. When it reads 12.5V or lower while using it (and while sitting idle, not moving), stop using it and charge the battery.
Overall, even with the issues, this car has specs that match much more expensive cars and I am happy with my purchase. I would recommend it over other more expensive cars. I will update down the road as well.
Good value for the price
