I have been on the fence about getting this island for over a year. I was hesitant to switch from a kitchen table to an island, but with just two of us and a lack of storage in my small kitchen, I was ready for a change. I am SOOO glad I ordered this. I had this (or similar brands) in my card for over a year. I finally thought Id order it and was pleased to find that the price had gone down!
I purchased the oak and it is a little darker than pictured, but does go nicely with my oak kitchen cabinets. It is very sturdy and well made and looks much more expensive than it was. It does add quite a bit of storage, but I was slightly disappointed that my 8 quart instantpot wont fit in it / too wide for the cabinets. But, Ive managed to find all sorts of other items that fit.
Myhusband had it put together in a couple of hours, I just had to help him with holding it while he put some of the larger pieces on. All pieces were VERY clearly labeled and the directions seemed very clear to us. Were not newbies to putting things together, but I dont think anyone would have a hard time. I really liked that they even listed how many screw, bolts, camlocks, etc. so you didnt panic if you had one left over.
The counter that folds out seems to be quite sturdy and I believe it will last quite a while. At some point if it gets damaged from use, Id probably change out the wood top for a countertop material.
