Multifunctional, sturdy, firm support and visually appealing
We were looking for something that would check the following boxes:
-Sleeping space for a guest
-Was comfortable enough for our guests to sleep in
-Functionally useful to us after our guests leftDidnt take up too much space
-Looked nice in our home
-Reasonably priced value
I did a lot of researching and determined that this checked off the boxes for the most part.
TLDR: If you are looking for something that is versatile as an ottoman, sofa/chair, bed and lounger, visually appealing, sturdy, easy to use, no real assembly... Get this as it is worth the price. Its difficult to find something that multi functional within a decent price range as well!
For more specific details, continue on!
The specific situation that we needed this for was 2 friends staying over in a month for a few days, and we only had 1 extra sleeping space in the form of an inflatable air mattress. As I was planning to have something that my parents could use too in the future, I wanted it to be something that would last and be comfortable enough to sleep in. We dont really have the space to have a guest bed full time, so we needed this bedding option to be moveable within the house as well, so a normal bed frame wouldnt work here. I felt that cots and air mattresses arent great for longer visits as they arent that comfortable so I was hoping there would be a sturdy option somewhere out there on the internet. Also if there was a way to utilize this mystery piece of furniture when we didnt have guests, that would be a huge plus! I hate the idea of spending a ton of money on something that you arent even using most of the time.
So with all that in mind, I somehow discovered this multifunctional 4 in 1 sofa bed!
+Multifunctional uses +
You can convert to a bed for a single person to sleep in. When you have no guests and you need the space, you can use it as a lounger single person sofa chair ottoman. For our home, our intention was to have it downstairs in the living room to use for whatever, but we ended up keeping it in our computer room and leave it in its bed form full time to rest in. It sorta acts like a couch because we have it against the wall. I just stuff pillows there and it works well!
+Ease of use+
There is no assembly. It came in a big box and was already fully assembled. You just need to take off this foam wrapping that was around the bars and other small amounts of packing bits. To convert it from an ottoman, you pull the side of the ottoman up and it hinges. Itll reach a point where it just rests at a 90ish degree angle and you can then take the other two cushions and pull the up to the side on their hinges. To me the only difficult/annoying part is getting the little flaps to fall nicely, which is mostly an aesthetic thing. In ottoman form, its simple as they just all come down, but in the other forms, only the 2 side flaps fall nicely, and you have to sorta fiddle with the other 2 flaps to nicely go down without it getting too caught in the metal folding hinges. All the flaps bottom corners have magnets hidden in them, which is very nice as you can use that to keep the flaps down. There are two folding legs for the bed configuration which are hidden under inside the fabric under some velcro. Its simple enough to get the legs in and out, and you can choose to re-velcro the fabric into place nicely as well.
+Space Saving+
As mentioned, if you need the space you can convert it from a bed to a smaller ottoman which is good if you need the space.
+Mobility+
It allowed us to have a guest bed that was also portable. One person can move it, but its much easier if you have two people carrying it. My husband and I easily moved it upstairs as well. Im not super strong, but was able to slowly move it from room to room by myself. On carpet I sorta just slid it along the ground in ottoman form. I would just be cautious moving it/carrying it as there is no way to lock it into place while carrying it, so you just need to make sure you grab the right places or itll swing open.
+Sturdy+
Despite the fact that its a 4 in 1, so far the product has been sturdy in all forms. It says it can hold up to 440 lbs. I dont intend to test how far that can go, but Ive safely sat or slept in it without feeling that it would break. Weve had 2 people sit on it in bed form, and it also holds up fine. Ive sat on the bottom and top part of the fold out sections and it still seems sturdy.
+Comfort+
Its a firm cushion, and the fabric is tightly woven linen. It has a bit of give between the fabric and the cushion, so you will get some tiny little dents in the fabric, which is easily smoothed with your hand if it bothers you. I think that I will plan to later purchase a mattress topper of some sort to add more cushioning to this, as I feel like this would be too firm for a longer guest stay.
The purchase also comes with a long pillow, which is also covered in the same fabric. Because you can unzip it, you could add more filling or change the pillow insert out if you wanted. It doesnt really provide too much comfort or support, so I actually just purchased a separate pillow for my guests to use with it.
+Cleaning+
You can unzip the pillow to take out the insert and wash the fabric as needed, but we havent found a need to do so yet. I dont think you can take off the fabric from the actual bed however, so if you need to clean it, you would need to do spot cleaning I think. We own cats, so fur is inevitable, but it doesnt seem to be that difficult to remove from the top. That being said, there is this fuzzy soft black material on the underside of the fabric flaps which the fur sticks to very easily. Luckily thats underneath so it doesnt show, but its something to keep in mind for allergies maybe.
+Price+
I looked over several different brands for this 4 in 1 product, as a simple search on or google with show what looks like the same or extremely similar product. I spent a lot of time looking at features and reading reviews to determine what would be best for me. The reason I went with this particular brand even though it was a bit more expensive or a lot more expensive than other brands was for a few reasons.
1.) Width of the bed. If you look youll find ones that look like this but also offer narrower sizes. Since I wanted it to be more comfortable, I felt that having it be a bit wider would also be better for my guests. Id say this is about as wide as a twin sized bed (I think 38 is a twin and this is 37 wide).
2.) Reviews and fulfillment. I used s star rating system, and then further based my decision off of amount of reviews as well as what the reviews were saying. There are several other chairs on the market that are much cheaper, but have very little reviews, so I didnt want to chance my money on those. In the end, I narrowed it down to two brands with high star rating and plenty of reviews to read. Vonada and another brand that was about $50 cheaper. The good reviews for both were fine, but the difference was that in the bad reviews for the cheaper chair, I found that the in the cases where there was an issue from shipping where the chair got damaged in some way, or if there was a defect, customers had a lot of problems contacting the company or getting their issue resolved. The cheaper chair was sold and fulfilled by the same company, whereas this Vonada chair was sold by Vonada, but fulfilled by . One thing Ive learned is that is usually really good with their customer support for products if they are the ones fulfilling the order. So I opted to pay that little bit of extra money for peace of mind knowing that if there WAS an issue, I would be dealing with vs some random company.
